How Stress and Anxiety Affects You


We all like to say that we have our stress and possibly anxiety under control and there aren’t any physical effects but let's be honest your lying to yourself. Life is chaotic and there are so many things that we are trying to juggle and it gets hard. It has taken be a long time to admit that I’m always ok and I do need help with certain things and once I did; let me tell you I’ve never felt better. As a health and wellness coach and registered nurse I am here to help you reach the same feeling!

Let’s dive in a little bit. Have you noticed one or more of the following; change in eating habits, headaches, changes in your bowels or heart palpitations (feeling like it's skipping a beat)? Now I know these are very broad symptoms and can mean many things but they could also be your body telling you it’s anxious and needs to be loved differently. You don’t realize how much your mind truly affects your physical being until you start taking care of your mental health as well.

One of the biggest things you can do for your mental health is look at how you talk to yourself. Now by this I mean when you make a mistake are you incredibly hard on yourself or do you always think of the negative in different situations. If either of these or something along these same lines is true then STOP doing it immediately and start to pay attention to your mood and overall feeling. I do also know that is so much easier said than done but if you start to consciously think about thinking positive and allowing yourself to make mistakes (we’re all human) than it will start to become more natural. Also physical movement is not only great for your body but for your mind as well. If you know you have something stressful coming up or your feeling anxious about something just going to for short walk will help turn that around.
